Green energy initiatives in Radovish: Green Heat and Energy Efficient Region.
Green Heat – Green heating
Introduction of an efficient, customer-oriented small-grid district heating service based on renewable energy sources.
General objective: a modern, ecological municipal heating service for public buildings that will contribute to better living conditions for the local population by establishing a pilot unit in Radovish Municipality.
ELRAD Energy oversees the installation and operation of air-to-water heat pumps in the five public facilities in the city.

Specific objectives
- Introducing an innovative, replicable district heating service model through greater use of locally available resources.
- Strengthening the capacity of key stakeholders for an efficient transition to modern, greener heating services at local level.
- Promoting climate-oriented, advanced service delivery solutions that stimulate a greener local economy.
Expected results
- An advanced, replicable district heating solution using multiple renewable energy sources established in 5 municipal buildings.
- Public administration has the knowledge and skills to plan, monitor and deliver the new service sustainably and to promote its sustainability in other municipalities.
- Increased public awareness of the economic, social and environmental benefits of district heating based on renewable energy.

Planned activities
- Introductory phase – research and analysis, including an analysis of high-efficiency alternative district heating systems based on renewable energy.
- Forming a Local group of key stakeholders to take part in decision-making on the new service (6 meetings).
- Establishing a district heating service in Radovish through a small, ecological heating system based on renewable energy.
- Building the capacity of key stakeholders and transferring know-how.
- Promotional activities to raise public awareness, including study visits to the pilot unit by representatives of other municipalities.
Energy Efficient Region
A project supported by the SDC (Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation).
Objective: using solar energy to produce electricity.
